Kitchens, bedrooms, and living rooms
The same fan behaves differently in each room. Match it to the job before you match it to the decor.
Bedroom
Airflow through the night and a light you can dim without a second switch. Reverse the motor in winter so warm air is not stuck at the ceiling.
Living room
Larger spans belong here if the ceiling height allows a downrod. Do not force a 52 in fan into a wide room just because 52 in is the size you see most often.
Low ceiling: use a flush mount or low profile fan so the blades stay at a safe height. This page is not for bathroom exhaust fans, heater fans, or warehouse HVLS fans.
What usually goes wrong after install
These are the failures that show up after install. Every one of them starts with a detail you can check before you buy.

The fan runs, the light stays off
Fan and light are often two circuits. The remote light key may simply be set to OFF — that is not automatically a dead LED.

The room is still dark
A decorative bowl is not kitchen task lighting. Check lumens and dimming on the card before you buy.

The remote does nothing
Batteries reversed, receiver not powered, or pairing unfinished. Buying a second remote does not fix the wrong pairing method.

Blades sit too low
Height first, then diameter. A flush mount trades some airflow for clearance under an 8 ft ceiling.

The patio fan is only indoor rated
Rain and coastal air need a listed damp or wet rating, not a darker paint finish.

A wall dimmer makes it flicker
Many integrated LEDs are not meant for a legacy dimmer. We list only controls tested with the model.
What is a ceiling fan with light?
One overhead fixture that moves air and lights the room, so you do not add a separate ceiling light.
What size do I need?
Match blade span to the room, then confirm blade height. Use the size filters on this collection.
What if I have a low ceiling?
Choose a flush mount or low-profile ceiling fan with light so blades stay at a safe height.
Do these fans include a remote?
Check the remote line on the product card. If the fan runs but the light does not, check the remote light control before assuming the LED has failed.
Can I add a light kit later?
This page is for fans that already include a light. Buy a with-light model instead of converting a no-light fan.
Are the lights dimmable?
Dimmable and color temperature are listed per model. Do not put an untested wall dimmer on an integrated LED.
Will it work on a sloped ceiling?
Only if that model lists a max slope angle. Do not install on a vaulted ceiling without the rating.
Can I use this outdoors?
Only with a damp or wet location rating. Indoor dry-rated fans stay indoors.
Which way should the fan turn?
Summer: counterclockwise, air down. Winter: clockwise, gentle updraft.
Will it work with a wall control I already have?
Only if that model's spec sheet says so. Compatibility is not a default claim.
